How a Workshop Works
The focus of each 90 minute workshop is different but we follow a format like the one below and take a break if needed. There’s always an encouraging welcome and an icebreaker for new Story Hatchers so don’t worry if you think you won’t know anyone! Meeting and creating with like-minded fans of writing is a special and much-loved part of the experience.
Prices start at $35 for a 90 minute workshop
Warm up: a game, a challenge, a brain-buster or a quick-shot of writing fun!
Creative writing or drawing relating to our theme or imaginative quest.
You can be guaranteed to learn something new like creative thinking strategies, writing techniques or story elements and ideas and you will always craft writing of some sort!
A Carton of Characters
You might have hatched a hero in one or more of your stories but you’re going to need to pepper your plot with other people, or creatures or whatever!
In this workshop you meet some awesome archetypes and think about clever, quirky, creative ways to make your own characters really original and captivating for your readers!
Half a Dozen Doozies!
This workshop is like a “greatest hits” of fantastic fun ways to generate ideas, experiment with formats and create some eggstra-ordinary pieces.
You’ll be amazed at what your brilliant brain can do with the imaginative activities and creative challenges served up. Capture and extend your favourite ideas in a written piece of your choice!
Poetry Power!
You will leave this workshop star-struck by the power of poetry! Play around with un-eggspectedly puzzling and pleasing poems and collect vivid vocabulary.
Artfully arrange your words to compose original pieces. Rhyming is optional but options abound as we explore marvellous models then take time to think and dream and write!
