Andrea’s credentials are not just creative!

As an educator I have over 3 decades of experience and expertise reflecting a genuine passion for teaching and learning. I have worked in Government, Independent, Community and Catholic schools, enjoying a wide variety of roles such as:

  • Primary classroom teacher (Prep to Year 6)

  • Literacy/Maths/Drama co-ordinator

  • Specialist and Freelance Consultant in Gifted Education

  • Professional Development Presenter

  • Curriculum designer & print resource developer

  • Extension program writer and teacher

  • Presenter and workshop creator for G.A.T.E.WAYS (Gifted and Talented Education, Victoria, NSW, ACT & QLD, SA in face-to-face and online formats)

I have also authored over 20 educational resources for teachers and written educational marketing and promotion materials for publishers

My leadership roles have been in Talent Development/ Extension and Enrichment Co-ordination in private schools where I worked on:

  • delivering advanced curriculum classes, such as English and Maths extension, to selected students

  • case management of high ability learners

  • organising special events and competitions and contributing to relevant networks

  • supporting and resourcing teaching colleagues, students and families

  • design and delivery of tailored enrichment programs for groups and individual students (K - Middle School)

In addition to a Masters of Education, I have completed Post Grad Studies in Gifted Education, CELTA and innumerable courses on the craft of writing to further both personal and professional passions. Lifelong learner? Absolutely!

How I can help Primary teachers and schools

  • Running workshops - customised to your students & their particular needs, or choose from a suite of existing tried-n-tested creative workshops

  • Providing Professional Development to help teachers identify suitable students for Story Hatchers workshops, OR on differentiation strategies to cater for high ability/gifted students more generally

  • In-residence writing programs for periods of time or one off visits to support events

  • Running a regular lunch/after school/other time club style program (eg: literature or writing or poetry) for suitable students with the interest and ability to participate
